China Journey to the East
This remarkable exhibition from the British Museum is the largest loan of Chinese treasures ever to be seen in the UK.
Over 100 objects tell the story of China's culture and influence in the world, focusing on five themes: Play and Performance, Technology, Belief and Festivals, Food and Drink, and Language and Writing. An activity area allows visitors to creatively explore each of these themes.

Peking Opera Revealed

A day of insight into the art and magic of the Peking Opera. Performances by traditional artists explore the preparation actors do, followed by workshops to learn about and try percussion and folk music, movement and masks.

Simon Norfolk, Guy Tillim, Laura Ford, Anthony Haughey, Emma Summers
and Monika Oeschler.

Marvellous things await you Under the Big Tree, a world for children and adults
to explore together.
The Herbert Art Gallery & Museum's annual installation for families encourages
creativity and imagination for young minds - meeting the animals, plants and
bugs who live Under the Big Tree.
The exhibition offers unique opportunities to explore an imaginative world designed for families with eight years. The emphasis is on inventive play and discovery with endless options for self-expression. This year there is a new section especially for children under three years old.
Children need to be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times.

fish, insects and birds from remote corners of the earth and a stunning selection
of plant life, full of vibrant colours and unusual specimens.
This captivating exhibition shows photographs from the world’s largest and most prestigious wildlife photography competition, jointly organised each year by the Natural History Museum and BBC Wildlife Magazine. Open to adult and junior entries, the competition attracts both professionals and amateur photographers who go to the most extraordinary lengths for their art.
