One Coventry Review

Yes, this is middlebrow, crowd-pleasing award fodder; but it is so very well-executed, it’s all you can do to resist. With fantastic performances from the entire cast does justice to the crisp and humorous scrip by David Seidler.

Praise has to undeniable go to Colin Firth for his outstanding performance which is well worthy of the awards he is sure to receive. However, although the film is ultimately Firth’s a stand out performance, which is particularly striking, is that of Geoffrey Rush as King George’s speech therapist. Rush brings his character Lionel Logue to life and appears natural and spontaneous as Logue develops the king speaking ability and also a poignant relationship.

The King’s Speech will win big at the Oscars and is well worth a watch.
